Prepare for 2020.Vote early in 2019.

Being an early voter is extremely important in this election. New York counties have had to scramble to set up a whole new system for early voting -- finding locations that are available and secure to use for the nine days of early voting, setting up schedules to comply with the new state early voting law, providing poll books and staffing locations. All this in addition to offering full service on Election Day, November 5, at regular polling places.

The 2019 election is a great chance to help the county establish a smoothly operating system before the 2020 presidential year elections. Questions and confusion about the process are inevitable on this first trial in 2019. Every early voter’s experience can help. Report the good and the bad. Be sure to respond to surveys or communicate any way you can to give your Board of Elections the information it needs to make the election in 2020 run smoothly and efficiently.

To learn about candidates for 2019, visit www.Vote411.org, the voter information site of the League of Women Voters. Whatever your candidate preferences, voting in our 2019 state and local elections is more important than ever. Every person who votes will help improve the process for 2020.
