Guide to the November 2024 general Election
the basics
Early Voting
Early Voting runs from Saturday, October 26th through Sunday, November 3rd (hours vary).
There is no Early Voting on Monday, November 4th.
Thanks to new legislation, eligible New Yorkers will be able to register to vote in person at a poll site and vote by affidavit ballot at their polling place all in the same day — the first day of Early Voting on Saturday, October 26th. Voter registration eligibility will be confirmed before their ballots are counted.

If you’re a registered voter and you arrive at the poll site, but your name is not on the rolls, check that you’re at the correct poll site. If so, cast an affidavit ballot. Your vote may count and your registration will be automatically updated.

Please note: Due to changes in the law, New Yorkers are no longer able to cast ballots on voting machines if they have requested an absentee ballot. If you requested an absentee ballot and end up choosing to vote in person during Early Voting or on Election Day, you will be issued an affidavit at your polling location. Your affidavit ballot will be kept separate until the election is completed, and if your absentee ballot has been received by the Board of Elections, the affidavit ballot will not be counted.
